This study aims to give an empirical analysis of how a legal system - specifically the Egyptian one at the turn of the twenty-first century - manifests its moral dimension and how it deals with cases bearing on morality. The prosecution of approximately fifty men for presumed homosexuality is studied in detail, including the language used in cross-examination and in passing sentence. The practical approach used to re-evaluate the relationship between law and morality paves the way for a sociology of law in context and in action.
