This 'Life of Theodore Beza', written by one of the editors of his correspondence, leads from the Paris of Francis I, where Beza wrote his sometimes religious but more often licentious Juvenilia, to Lausanne and Geneva, where in 1548 the poet turned reformer. Never ceasing to write poetry in his spare time, he struggled against Papists and Lutherans, defended predestination, and inspired Protestant churches in France and elsewhere.
