This innovative study examines corridas and rodeos as elements in the transformation of culture between Europe and America. The different tauromachian traditions, from the running of bulls in South-West Europe to the diverse forms of rodeo in North and South America are seen as territorial markers and expressions of identity that vehicle feelings of belonging and solidarity. These traditions speak also to territorial construction during two periods of western globalization: Iberian imperialism and the American cultural hegemony of the late twentieth century.
