La Placette de Pierre Braillard

Un projet d'urbanisme à Genève (1958-1967). "Laissons dire et faisons bien"

0.00 CHF

The present volume traces the tumultuous and disputed early history of the Placette department store, today called Manor, the largest in Geneva. Built fifty years ago, the commercial center forced the eviction of modest families and merchants from much need housing, arousing the protests of the local media, trade unions, and intellectuals, to no avail. Eleven apartment buildings were razed to make space for the Placette, which, in time, would lead to new economic prosperity in the neighborhood.
