Notes journalières de Fujiwara No Sukefusa : Traduction du "Shunki"

Tome II (1040-1054)

Several inauspicious events that the emperor saw as proof of his ancestral divinities’ irritation marred the end of 1040. Sukefusa’s notes reveal something of the emperor’s beliefs and of his relationship with the divinities, at a time when circumstances were forcing him to neglect Buddhist ceremony. With the exception of the first two moons of 1041, the latter part of the volume is made up of extracts relating to events such as the crown prince’s coming-of-age, a banquet given by a new minister, Buddhist celebrations for the inauguration of the Kôfukuji and Hôjôji buildings, and funerary services.
